I made this piece for the days when your joints remind you they've been working — the feather is hand-engraved, each barb traced one at a time with a tool I've had for thirty years.

Copper has been worn against the skin for thousands of years by people who needed their joints to keep up with their lives, and the ones who come back to me always say the same thing: they stopped noticing what they used to notice in their wrists.

This is one of the last bracelets I'll make before I close my workshop for good. I hope it finds the wrist that needs it most.

Pure copper isn't magnetic. Most of the copper jewelry sold online is either plated (a thin copper coating over a cheaper metal like steel or brass) or alloyed with enough iron or nickel to make it feel magnetic — that's the quickest way to spot a fake.

The test is simple:

  1. Grab any fridge magnet
  2. Hold it against your cuff, ring, or necklace
  3. If it sticks — even slightly — it isn't pure copper
  4. If it doesn't stick, you're holding the real thing

Every piece I make is 99.9% pure copper — never plated, never alloyed with cheap metals. Run the test on yours the day it arrives. If it ever fails, I'll refund you immediately.

Turquoise is a soft stone, so most turquoise used in jewelry is stabilized, which makes it harder and helps it keep its color. Every stone has its own matrix pattern, so your piece will vary slightly from the photos.

How do I take care of my turquoise jewelry?

Turquoise is a soft stone, so a little care keeps it bright.

  • Put your jewelry on last, after lotion, perfume and hairspray
  • Take it off before swimming, showering or cleaning
  • Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wearing
  • Store each piece on its own in its pouch, away from sunlight
